Martinique m’a retourné.

My trip to St. Barthélemy was unforgettable thanks to the peaceful cove behind Plage de Colombier. I spent hours swimming in calm, crystal-clear water with turtles just a few feet away. The path to reach the beach was a scenic hike through cactus-lined trails. I stayed at Les Ilets de la Plage, a charming set of villas tucked right by the ocean. Each morning, the gentle sound of waves woke me up before I headed down for fresh croissants by the sand.

While exploring St. Lucia, I stayed at the Stonefield Villa Resort overlooking Petit Piton. I still can’t believe how green the cliffs looked at dawn. One day I booked a catamaran ride (it was a Nautitech Open 40) with Captain Jerome and his stories were half the trip! We anchored near Sugar Beach and snorkeled close to the volcanic rocks. Bright purple fish everywhere. Later, the crew served rum punch and grilled pineapple skewers on deck. I’ll never get over that view.

I can’t even describe how magical our stay in Montserrat felt. We were at a small eco-lodge nestled just above Woodlands Beach. The waves there are wild and raw, perfect for clearing your mind. On the third day, we hired a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 490 and circled around the west coast — the captain, Ellis, showed us a hidden cove just south of Old Road Bay, only reachable by sea. We swam alone there as the cliffs glowed orange at sunset. Never felt so grounded.

So we had a week in Bonaire, stayed at Delfins Beach Resort — gorgeous location, right on Punt Vierkant. I absolutely loved the reef diving right off the hotel’s dock. Coral looked like living fire. BUT there were some loud renovation works near our room and it kinda messed with the chill. That said, we also took out a Fountaine Pajot Lucia 40 with friends and spent two days hopping beaches along the west coast. The boat was perfect. If not for the noise at the hotel, would’ve been a 5.

We anchored our Bali 4.2 in a quiet cove near White Bay, on Jost Van Dyke in the US Virgin Islands. I’ve done dozens of charters but this one stands out. The kids swam to shore while I stayed on deck sipping black coffee, watching stingrays drift in the morning sun. Later, we walked barefoot up to Soggy Dollar Bar where they made Painkillers stronger than I expected. We slept on the trampoline that night. It was the kind of perfect silence that stays in your bones.

Me and my brother chartered a Beneteau Oceanis 46.1 out of Rodney Bay and made our way up the coast of Martinique. At Anse Couleuvre, we dropped anchor and kayaked through the quiet estuary where the jungle meets the sea. Spent two nights just floating between there and Le Prêcheur, fishing and reading with no phones. The stars felt closer somehow. Still dream about that moonlight glistening on the water like silver dust.

This was my second time in Guadeloupe, but nothing could’ve prepared me for the beauty I found staying at a beachfront bungalow in Sainte-Anne, a few minutes from La Caravelle beach. The breeze at sunset carried the scent of grilled fish from the tiny shack near the dock where we ended up dancing with locals two nights in a row. I walked barefoot to a hidden cove north of the Club Med trail where the water was shallow and filled with baby rays. Truly felt like I had stumbled into a forgotten dream.

Our experience in Curaçao was simply flawless. We booked a romantic stay at Baoase Luxury Resort right on the edge of the private lagoon. Every morning we’d wake up to the sound of waves gently lapping at the rocks and head to the infinity pool before venturing out. One afternoon, we took a private Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 409 to the Blue Room cave near Santa Cruz beach — the reflection of light inside was surreal. On the way back, our skipper stopped in a tiny inlet where flamingos were feeding. Absolute poetry.

My partner and I sailed from Soufrière in Saint Lucia aboard a Dufour 430 Grand Large and headed toward Anse Mamin. The sheer sight of the Pitons rising like ancient gods behind us while the golden beach lay ahead felt like entering a mythical realm. The crew cooked grilled lobster on board, and we swam ashore to a tiny shaded spot lined with almond trees. We later hiked to a natural sulfur spring, just 10 minutes inland. It was paradise on sea and land.

I spent a week in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and based myself in Bequia at a guesthouse five minutes from Lower Bay Beach. The whole island moves at its own rhythm. One morning, I hiked from the harbor past a goat farm and ended up overlooking Princess Margaret Beach. I sat with a fisherman for two hours while he mended his net. That same afternoon, I watched a group of children race on driftwood rafts near Jack’s Bar. No filters needed — just real beauty.

In Antigua and Barbuda, I chartered a Bali 4.6 for a solo getaway — and it became a spiritual reset. Departed from English Harbour and took a long sail along the southern coast, anchoring in Deep Bay. I slept under the stars and woke up to pelicans diving around me. One evening, I visited the ruins of Fort Barrington before heading back to the boat. The view from the top — red sails in golden light — I’ll never forget it. That peace was medicine.

Stayed in a quiet part of Dominica near Toucari Bay in a cliffside ecolodge. The views of the Caribbean Sea were unmatched, especially at sunrise. I loved kayaking through the nearby mangroves and swimming by the rocky beach. However, the trail down was steep and not well-lit at night, which made returning a bit stressful. Still, the experience of watching fireflies above the bay while floating in warm water… that part? Perfection.

I’ll never forget the morning we set sail from Jolly Harbour in Antigua on a Lagoon 42. The captain took us around Five Islands, where we anchored in a secluded bay. There was this tiny beach surrounded by green cliffs, and the water was turquoise like in a dream. We snorkeled for hours, then had lunch on board — grilled snapper with plantains. Watching the sun set behind the masts while my son danced on deck… that memory’s carved in my soul.

It was so quiet out there, just sea and sky, with flying fish darting alongside. We docked near a rocky outcrop and swam ashore to a small beach we had all to ourselves. We opened a bottle of rosé on deck while soft jazz played and the orange sky reflected over the bay. Later, we rowed ashore in the dinghy and dined barefoot at a beachside table under string lights. Onboard, lunch was grilled plantains and mahi-mahi, and the kids helped hoist the sails. I watched them laugh in the sunlight and realized it had been too long since we all smiled that hard together.
